  • 1 box (3.4 ounces/96 grams) instant pudding
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 cup (120 milliliters) water
  • ⅓ cup (80 milliliters) vegetable oil

Cake Pops

  • 1 tub (16 ounces/455 grams) ready-made frosting
  • 48 ounces (1.4 kilograms) bright white candy melts


  • Milk or white chocolate chips, for ears
  • Red or pink heart sprinkles, for bow
  • Red mini M&Ms or pink cake pops китти candy confetti, for bow
  • Yellow dot confetti or yellow candy pearl, for nose
  • Dark-colored food coloring or edible ink pen, for face

Part 1

Making the Cake Pops

  1. 1

    Preheat your oven to 350°F (177°C), and lightly grease your baking pans. You can use one 13 by 9 by 2-inch (33 by 23 by 5-centimeter) sheet pan or two 8 cake pops китти 9-inch (20 or 23-centimeter) round pans.

    Beat together your cake mix, pudding, eggs, water, and oil. This will take about 2 minutes in an electric mixer.

    Your baking times will vary depending on the shape of your baking pan:

    • If you used a round baking pan, your cake will be ready in 30 to 35 minutes.
    • If you used a sheet pan, your cake will be ready in 35 to 40 minutes.

    Let the cake cool completely. Let cake pops китти cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes first.

    Then, take the cake out of the pan, and let it finish cooling completely. Don't worry if the cake breaks or comes apart when you take it out of the pan; you will be crumbling it up anyway.

Part 2

Making and Shaping the Cake Pops

    Let the cake balls rest for 20 minutes, then cover them with plastic wrap, and chill them in the fridge for at least 2 hours. Cover a large baking sheet with wax paper, then place the cake balls on top.

    Make sure that you leave some space between each cake ball. Let them rest for 20 minutes, then cover them with a sheet of plastic wrap, and put them into the fridge for at least 2 hours.[7]

    • Be gentle with the plastic wrap so that you don't squish the cake balls.
    • Don't cram the cake balls onto the baking sheet.

      If they won't fit, use cake pops китти second baking sheet.

Part 3

Dipping the Cake Pops

  1. 1

    Melt ¼ cup (45 cake pops китти of the candy coating in the microwave. Put the candy coating into a small, microwave-safe bowl, then melt it according to the instructions on the package.

    Each brand may be a little different. In general, however, you'll be asked to melt the candy on medium power at 30-second intervals, stirring between each interval.[8]

    • You will melt the rest of the chocolate later.

    Be sure to leave some space between each cake pop.

    Melt another ¼ cup (45 grams) of the candy coating, and use it to "glue" the chocolate chips on to make the ears. Use a small spoon to make two small dots of melted candy cake pops китти on top of each cake pop.

    • Hello Kitty's ears are rather far apart, so place the chocolate chips on cake pops китти side of the head.

    Put the cake pops into the fridge for another 30 minutes. Do not take the cake pops off of the Styrofoam block; simply place the entire block in the fridge.

    If they are room temperature, they will fall apart!

    Melt the rest of the candy coating in a large, microwave-safe bowl. Use a deep bowl if you can.

    This way, the edges of it will be cool enough to handle when you go on to dip the cake balls.

    • Save a few chips so that you can melt them to glue the decorations on later.

    Dip the cake balls into the melted candy, then lift it out. Hold onto the lollipop stick, then dip the cake ball into the melted chocolate, all the way down to the stick.

    • Try to get as much of the cake ball covered.

      You want to avoid cake pops китти. If you double-dip, the chocolate coating may slide off.

    • If the melted chocolate is too thick, stir in some vegetable oil to make it thinner and smoother.

    Gently tap and rotate the cake pop to coat it evenly. Hold the cake pop by the stick in one hand, and gently tap your wrist with the other.

    • If there is too much melted candy on the lollipop stick, rotate the cake pop again, but this time, keep your finger on the lollipop stick. This will wipe off the excess candy coating.

    Stick the cake pops back onto the Styrofoam block, and put them back into the fridge for 1 hour. This will allow the candy coating cake pops китти set and harden.[13]

Part 4

Decorating the Cake Pops

    Melt some candy coating. You will need about ¼ cup (45 grams).

    You will use this to attach the decorations in this section. Simply dip the end of a paintbrush into the melted candy, then use it to make dots where you want the decorations to go.

    Press two heart-shaped sprinkles into the candy, with the points touching. Next, make a dot of melted candy between the two cake pops китти, right on top of the points. Press a small confetti dot or mini M&M into the glue.

      Be sure to match the colors.[14]

    • For a large bow, use two large, red, heart-shaped sprinkles, and a mini red M&M.[15]
  3. Make a dot of melted candy right in the middle of Hello Kitty's face, and press a yellow confetti dot into it.[16] You can also use a small, yellow candy pearl.[17] Alternatively, you can also draw the nose on using cake pops китти yellow, edible ink pen.

    Make the eyes. Dip a thin paintbrush into dark-colored food coloring, and draw two small ovals to either side of the nose.[18] Hello Kitty's cake pops китти are low, so make them just above the nose. They are also wide apart, so leave some space between them!

    Draw the whiskers. Using a thin paintbrush and dark food coloring, draw three whiskers on each side of Hello Kitty's face.[20] Make them short, and as close to the edge of the face as you can.

    Serve the cake pops. You can keep them on the Styrofoam block, or you can stand them upright in a nice cup.


  • If your kitchen is warm and the cake balls are getting too soft, work in small batches. Work with 6 to 12 cake pops at a time, and keep the rest in the fridge.

    Leaving the cake pops in the fridge for longer than 30 minutes at a time won't hurt them.

  • Use a picture of Hello Kitty as a reference when making the face.
  • Instead of making a bow out of cake pops китти, use melted chocolate to glue a flower-shaped sprinkle to the base of one of the ears.[22] Hello Kitty usually wears bows, but she sometimes wears flowers instead!
  • Make sure that you use mini M&Ms and not the regular size.

    The regular sized ones are too big and will look out of proportion.

  • Use cake pops китти cookie scoop to make the cake balls.
  • Some stores sell lollipop sticks made specially for cake pops.

    They are longer and thicker cake pops китти regular lollipop sticks.

  • You can find lollipop sticks in craft stores and baking supply stores.
  • You can find Styrofoam blocks in craft stores. If you can't find any, turn an egg carton upside down, and use that instead.
  • If there are any bare patches on your cake pop, use a toothpick to help spread the melted chocolate over it before it dries.[23]
  • You can bake the cake the day before.
  • To make things go by faster, poke holes in the Styrofoam block before you begin.

    Make the holes 2 inches (5 centimeters) apart.[24]

  • You can use these techniques to make other cat-shaped cake pops!


  • The cake balls must be cold before you start dipping them. If they are room temperature, they can fall off the lollipop sticks and into the melted cake pops китти store finished cake pops in the fridge. This will cause the candy coating to "weep" or even melt!

    You can freeze them, however![26]
